SEO Checklist for Auto Detailing: Profile, Site & Reviews

Jul 20, 2026 · SEO for Industries

Pull up your Google Business Profile and count your photos. Now look at the top-ranked detailer in your city — they probably have ten times more, and half are before-and-afters. Detailing is a visual trade: nobody books a $600 paint correction from a listing with a logo and two blurry shots. This seo checklist for auto detailing is grouped into four areas so you can work through them one at a time: your profile, your website, your photos and content, and your reviews.

Thirteen steps total. The reasoning behind them is in the companion SEO for auto detailing guide.

Area 1: your Google Business Profile

1. Set up the profile for how you actually operate (45 minutes)

Shop-based? Show your address. Mobile-only? Hide the address and set service areas instead — listing a home address you don't serve customers at violates Google's rules and risks suspension. Primary category: Car detailing service. This is the core of local SEO for a detailer: most of your bookings will come through this one listing.

2. Load your services with real prices (30 minutes)

Add each package as a service with a price or starting price: full detail from $180, ceramic coating from $800, interior detail from $120. Priced listings get more calls because they pre-qualify — the customer who calls already accepts your numbers. Describe each service in the fields Google gives you, using the words customers search: swirl removal, odor elimination, headlight restoration.

3. Upload 20+ before-and-after photos (1 hour)

Swirl removal, headlight restoration, pet-hair interiors, engine bays. Shoot in daylight, same angle for before and after. Add three new photos every week — profile freshness is a ranking factor and, more importantly, photos are what convert lookers into callers.

4. Post weekly with the job type in the text (10 minutes a week)

Use Google Posts: "Two-stage paint correction on a black Tacoma in Mesa this week." Location plus service in every post reinforces exactly what you want to rank for.

Area 2: your website

5. Build one page per service (2 hours each)

Ceramic coating, paint correction, interior detailing, mobile detailing — separate pages, separate keywords. "Ceramic coating mesa az" is a different search with a different buyer than "car interior cleaning near me", and one combined services page ranks for neither. Each page needs the process, the time it takes, the price range, your own photos of the work, and a booking button — in that order, because that's the order a customer's questions come in.

6. Write title tags with service + city (30 minutes)

Examples: Ceramic Coating in Mesa, AZ — 5-Year Protection | Shine Werks and Mobile Auto Detailing in Mesa — We Come to You | Shine Werks. See our title tag guide for the mechanics.

7. Put booking one tap away (1 hour)

A sticky "Book Now" button on mobile, wired to your booking tool or a prefilled text message. Most detailing searches happen on a phone in a driveway, staring at a dirty car. Reduce the steps between that moment and a booked slot.

8. Crawl your site and fix the errors (20 minutes + fixes)

Crawl your site to catch broken links, missing titles, and oversized images. Detailing sites lean on huge photos — compress anything over 300KB, because a page that loads in six seconds on mobile data loses the customer before it loses the ranking.

Area 3: photos and content that answer real questions

9. Publish a ceramic coating explainer (2 hours)

"Is ceramic coating worth it?" and "ceramic coating vs wax" are searched by exactly the customer you want — someone talking themselves into a premium service. Answer honestly — including when a coating isn't worth it for an older daily driver — show your own work, and end with your package pricing. The honest version outranks and outconverts the sales pitch, because every competitor already wrote the sales pitch.

10. Create a page for each city or suburb you serve (1–2 hours each)

Mobile detailers only: "Mobile detailing in Gilbert", "Mobile detailing in Chandler". Include real jobs you've done there and neighborhood names. Don't spin ten identical pages with the city name swapped — three genuine pages beat ten thin ones, and thin ones can drag the whole site down. If you can't write 300 honest words about serving a suburb, you don't need that page yet.

11. Add an FAQ to your top service page (1 hour)

How long does a full detail take? Do you need water and power access? Do you remove pet hair? What if it rains? These match voice searches word for word and cut your inbox questions in half.

Area 4: reviews

12. Ask at the reveal, not by email later (ongoing)

The moment the customer sees their car is the peak. Ask right then, hand them your phone or a QR card linked to your review form. A detailer asking at the reveal converts several times better than any follow-up text sent that evening.

13. Reply to every review with the service and city named (10 minutes a week)

"Thanks for trusting us with the ceramic coating on your Model 3 here in Mesa!" — replies are indexed text on your most important local asset. Never copy-paste the same line twice.

Work the areas in order: profile first because it converts today, site second, content third, and reviews as a habit that never stops.

Frequently Asked Questions

Should a mobile detailer show an address on Google Business Profile?

No — if customers don't come to you, hide the address and define service areas instead. Listing a home address you don't serve customers at violates Google's guidelines and can get the profile suspended. Service-area setup still lets you rank in the map pack across the cities you cover.

What photos help a detailing business rank and convert?

Before-and-after pairs shot in daylight from the same angle: paint correction, interiors, headlight restoration, engine bays. Upload at least 20 to start and add a few weekly, since fresh photos signal an active business and they're the single biggest factor in whether a profile visitor calls.

Is it worth making separate pages for ceramic coating and paint correction?

Yes. They're different searches from different buyers at different price points, and a combined services page can't rank well for either. A dedicated ceramic coating page targeting 'ceramic coating [city]' typically starts pulling premium-service leads within a few months.
